The history

  It was opened by Kobo Daishi 6 in the Konin era (815), iron rust colored boiling water qushes out from the ravine of the inner part which is about two kilometer from the place where we are now, and it is said that the hot water is specially good for all illness. Taishi, when he traveled on foot, thought that this place was deeply related to Yakushi Nyorai, he carved Yakushi Nyorai, and made it the principal image, built the building of the temple, named it Onsenzan Anrakuji temple, made it the sixth sacred place. The temple which was communed because hot spring gushed had burned down by the fire of war of chosogabe army for the Manji era (1568-60), but after that it was rebuilt by same the Chosogabe at the present place. After that hot spring hat dried up without their knowledge.

If you go through the main gate of a buddhist temple (the gate of the bell tower), there is the fine reinforced concrete main temple. The main temple was destroyed by a fire 32 in the Showa era, but after that is was rebuilt by the effort of the chief priest, so it was changed to the noninflammable building.
